Sand Hills Amateur Radio Club

SHARC is comprised mainly of amateur radio operators in Gordon, Rushville, and Hay
Springs all in Sheridan County. Other members are from surrounding counties.

The Club operates a two-meter repeater (NOUVP/R) on 146.670 with a
negative offset. The repeater has open access and all visiting hams are invited to give us
a call when traveling through. The repeater has a range of about 60 miles.
Neal Ziller is the emergency coordinator for Sheridan, Dawes, and Sioux counties of
Nebraska. Ron Cashon KOPTK Chadron, Nebraska is the assistant emergency coordinator
for the same counties.

The Gordon Roping Club gathers at the fairgrounds throughout the summer for
this competitive sport. Every other week roping times of individual ropers are recorded.
The top roper receives an award at an annual awards event.
Gordon the home of the 1998 World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider in the National
Little Britches Rodeo Association. The High School Rodeo Association is also
very active. Both organizations boast large memberships, with many entries in State
competition. The Gordon area is home to several State champions.
